Beamer - I'd like welcome one if our newer GMs to the 31 in 31 interviews. Welcome Brad. Starting your 1st full season here in SCD. How do you think your franchise will fare this year? What expectations do you have?
Brad - Thanks ,I'm pretty stoked to get my first year going here in the scd.After a eventful offseason ,I really have the expectation to be a top 10 team this season,I'm pretty happy with the look of the team on paper ,but we shall see once the pucks drop how this will work out.
Beamer - Yep....getting a chance to run a franchise for the first time in a league you've never been in before is like getting that first hot date with the cute girl in your first day of Junior High. We're happy to have you here! Question 2....you do you see as the finalists in SCD and IRL NHL?
Brad - Ya that's a pretty good comparible lol.ya I do,I tend to get into dealing for odds and ends when I'm not happy with the way things are going,I know I have some work to do,but I can definitely see myself competing with the big boys. Scd my picks are the lightning vs the flames ,in real life I'm going off the board and being biased with the leafs vs the Canucks in a all Canadian showdown.yes I know,but we're due here in van .
Beamer - Oof...you and Gameface like the same team. At least the Nucks have some great building blocks...and that's coming from a Flames fan. Question three...a two parter... 3a. Your the IRL Islanders have been nomadic the past few years. In your opinion, should they be the Brooklyn Islanders or the Islanders based out of the Nassau County Coliseum in Long Island New York? Question 3b.....where ever they play, should bring back the "Captain Highlander" (fisherman) logo?
Brad - Ya you can say that again,I kind of like the whole Brooklyn idea myself,hasn't seemed to work with what they've done so far,as far as the logo is concerned,I'm not a fan of the fisherman logo,who knows maybe in 10 years or so I might change my mind with the times,but it's one of the uglier logos in my opinion,so I'm ok with the old school logo.
Beamer - I'm totally with you on the Captain Highlander logo....makes me sick just looking at it. I do think of Ziggy Palffy whenever I see that logo. Great player, horrible logo. I'm a sucker for old barns...Nassau Coliseum has tons of history but yes, the Brooklyn idea is neat...too bad the rink setup isn't great. Question 4..who's your favorite Spice Girl and why?
Brad - Ziggy was a great talent for sure,I felt bad for him having to wear that on his chest,they probably could have pulled off a barney logo and had more success.ya I like the lafontaine days ,i like old arenas as well.Spice girls hey,damn,well I gotta admit scary spice would be my pick,she seemed to get through some chaos In life and continue to push forward with diffrent careers which I can relate too...plus it doesn't hurt to have a accent and be smoking hot.
Beamer - Ya...you could never go wrong with any of en....even Emma Bunton.. That short blondie woulda been fun. Have you ever found an image of a biblical figure, Sesame Street character or other well-known person on piece of toast? If not...who would you want to see?
Brad - No you really couldn't. I can't say I have, a friend of mine was convinced he seen a alien on his toast,but before he snapped a pic I photo bombed and ate it ,so now we'll never know.If I were to see something ,it would be Mario or Wayne hoisting the cup back in the day,that shit would make me a believer of the toast gods.
Beamer - Totally...I'm proud to say I have a flaming C burned into my toast in the morning courtesy of a Father's Day gift from my boys....a Flames puck shaped toaster. Play with "Flames"...you get burned..
